Introducing and developing a strong project management culture in the organization
Example of a typical situation our experts can support you in
The Swiss subsidiary of an international corporation had realized that their work needed to be more and more often organized in the form of projects. The efficient and goal-oriented handling of these projects required tailored and effective processes, concise but helpful documentation, and industry-specific checklists and templates. A high level of acceptance by the parent organization was of paramount importance, as all members of project teams were recruited from the parent organization.
The BWI expert supported and accompanied a key project in this organization. The main processes and default documents within the project were introduced and established. Few but target-oriented tools were taught to the interdisciplinary team on-the-fly. The company then hired a young project manager as the Head of PMO, who took over the tools and ensured their use in other projects. Going forward, the organization benefitted from a successfully implemented baseline project and defined practical processes adapted to the company's specific situation.
Our offer
Establishment of a PMO (Project Management Office) or parts of it.
Our guiding principle is to always follow a pragmatic, lean and thus efficient and realistic approach as a prerequisite for the specifications to be truly understood and adhered to. In detail this means:
- Developing a project methodology adapted to the organization
- Creating or revising a project management manual
- Defining processes and establishing criteria for implementing these processes (according to the complexity of the project)
- Defining responsibilities and documenting them (e.g. implementing a RACI matrix as part of the PM manual)
- Creating templates and checklists and defining when to use them
- Mapping the processes in the relevant tools (from the MS Office-Suite to Monday, Asana, Jira etc.)
- Reviewing, optimizing and enhancing existing processes and specifications
- Ensuring buy-in by the teams through their continuous involvement and training (depending on the organization, the range of approaches varies)
